Difficulty 1: Display consistency problem
Eliminating the display consistency problem is of great significance to MLED mass production.
From the perspective of display quality, various factors such as materials, manufacturing processes, and craftsmanship will inevitably lead to display inconsistencies (Mura defects) in MLED displays, resulting in brightness and chromaticity deviations and unevenness, leading to display defects and impairing the user's viewing experience. Screen correction is necessary.
Compared with traditional LEDs, the size of MLED's light-emitting chips has been greatly reduced, and the pixel spacing has also been greatly reduced. With the miniaturization, the optical problems caused have become more serious. At the same time, entering the era of small and micro-pitch, MLED packaging forms have also changed. Compared with LCD and OLED calibration, MLED has much higher technical requirements due to its high brightness and large color difference. For example, LCD and OLED only require 8-bit brightness correction, while LED requires at least 12-bit brightness and color correction. As the cost of MLEDs continues to decrease, more and more MLEDs will be used in commercial displays and consumer markets, and the scale of applications will grow tremendously. The traditional application method of splicing and then calibrating LEDs after leaving the factory cannot meet the needs of large-scale standardized production. MLEDs must complete online calibration in the factory to ensure display consistency and high-quality presentation.
